The Department of Territorial Studies deals with the problems of the developing countries of Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia in the context of regional development and contemporary international relations. The day-to-day activities of the department consist of teaching and research work. The main issues dealt by the individual members of staff include the following international trade, security problems in developing countries, political processes in developing countries, globalization and regionalization, town and country planning, international relations and economic geography of Africa, Asia and Latin America. The staff of the Department of Territorial Studies teach at both bachelor and master study programs.

The Department of Territorial Studies also takes an active part in all university projects such as Improvement of professional competences of students of bachelor study program International Development Studies through the system of practical internships in developing countries (SID) and Reinforcement of the competitive strength of MENDELU alumni in the field of development cooperation & management of natural resources in the third world countries (NIKAZAM). The Department of Territorial Studies has submitted various project applications for consideration such as GAČR and Right to Food.
